"Go the Distance" 24 Consecutive Hour Run

Can you imagine a school without physical fitness?  In these tough economic times where school programs are being cut to meet budget constraints, the families of Franklin School are taking it upon themselves to see that the efforts and the programs that have been implemented to promote the health and fitness of our kids will have the funding needed to continue.  Go the Distance is a fundraiser which directly supports these programs.  More than just a fundraiser, this is a statement and a commitment to health and well being of our children.  We believe the health and fitness lessons learned as a child, shape their future outlook towards wellness as an adult.
 

On the morning of April 22nd, as the students, local media and event supporters assemble at the track’s edge, Greg will take the first of nearly a quarter of a million strides.  Throughout the day the students will have a first hand look and valuable lesson in perseverance and determination. When the sun rises Friday morning and the kids return to school on day two, he will have already logged well over 100 miles on his way to his goal of exceeding 125 miles in 24-hours.  Greg intends to literally Go the Distance for these kids. 

The students will be involved in Go the Distance from beginning to end.  This event will bring in local celebrity guest speakers to educate the kids on the importance of health and fitness.  After school hours the track will take on a festive atmosphere to bring the Franklin families, community partners and media back out to run with Greg Bomhoff while competing in the Franklin 5k Fun Run, then enjoy a dinner sponsored by KFC, sponsor expo and many more exciting events. 
 

Go the Distance will generate a dynamic partnership of corporations, local businesses, media, community outreach programs together with the supportive staff and generous families of Franklin School.  We intend on hosting an event that will capture the interest and the hearts of our community as well as the minds of our children.
